Open-Rank Tenure Track Professor in Cognitive Psychology
Job Description Summary: The Psychology Department at Furman University announces an open-rank tenure track position in Cognitive Psychology to begin August 2018. We will give full consideration to new PhDs as well as experienced faculty. We seek a broadly trained cognitive psychologist to teach courses in cognition, research methods and statistics, and an upper-level seminar in an area of interest. Other teaching opportunities could include general psychology, sensation and perception, learning, or a first-year writing seminar. A PhD is required, and teaching experience is preferred. Candidates must be committed to exemplary teaching and to maintaining a productive program of research with undergraduates. Candidates are also expected to become exceptional advisors and mentors, guiding students through their four-year academic pathway. The Psychology Department has outstanding teaching facilities, dedicated research space, and excellent university support for teaching and undergraduate research, including start-up funds. The Psychology Department's research program supports approximately 24 research students each summer. The teaching load is 5 courses (or 4 lab courses) per year divided over 2 semesters. In addition to joining the Psychology Department, if desired, candidates may also contribute to the interdisciplinary Neuroscience program that is led by 2 psychologists and 3 biologists. Salary Grade: Level 13 Salary commensurate with education and experience.
