The Center for the Psychological Study of Religion and Spirituality (CPSRS), directed by Dr. Patty Van Cappellen at Duke University seeks a full-time research coordinator/data technician. The initial appointment would be for one year, with the strong expectation to extend it for up to three years based on performance. The research coordinator/data technician will work closely with the PI to perform the research activities of a grant-funded project titled: "The Embodiment of Worship: Relations Among Postural, Psychological, and Physiological Aspects of Religious Practice." The research coordinator/data technician has the opportunity to be involved with scientific presentations at conferences and the writing of journal manuscripts in collaboration with Dr. Van Cappellen. Start date can be arranged with the PI and is expected to be sometime between August 15th, 2017, and September 15th, 2017.
- Overseeing day-to-day operations of a grant-funded research project including maintaining IRB protocols, designing, and running experiments with human subjects
- Cleaning and analyzing data (including psychophysiology data)
- Coordinating, training, and proactively working with undergraduate research assistants
- Recruiting participants from the community and establishing working relationships with local religious organizations to promote participant recruitment
- Assisting in general administrative activities as requested including coordinating off-site data collection with local researchers

Education: Work requires a bachelor's degree in psychology or a related field and eligibility to work in the United States by the start date .
Experience: None required above education/training requirements
Preferred Qualifications: Ideal candidate will have a strong undergraduate background in psychology or other social science field with previous research experience. Experience with the following is highly desirable, but not required: SPSS, Excel, Qualtrics, MTurk, Psychophysiology data collection software and equipment such as Mindware or Biopac. Seeking candidate with excellent time-management skills, attention to detail, interpersonal, communication, and writing skills, extremely efficient in email correspondence, ability to work independently, and ability to juggle multiple varied tasks. Candidate should have his or her own transportation for tasks away from the Center.
