Degree and Area of Specialization:
Bachelor's degree in journalism, marketing, strategic communications, public relations or other communications-related field; master's degree preferred.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
The successful candidate will possess three to five years of professional experience of public relations, marketing or journalism with demonstrated success in developing content, relationships and communications plans.
The successful candidate must also:
- Embrace the collaborative structure for campus communications.
- Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively in planning and executing projects.
- Display sound judgment, initiative and problem-solving ability.
- Demonstrate the ability to conceive, propose, research, report and write messages, speeches or stories on complex topics.
- Possess a proven ability to write quickly and accurately.
- Have strong time-management and organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects in a deadline-driven, highly detail-oriented environment.
University Communications, the central news and media relations hub at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, seeks a communicator to lead and coordinate communication efforts for the Strategic Partnership units within University Relations. The individual will also play a key coordinating role in training and assisting communicators around campus. Due to the nature of the role, on-campus experience is desirable.
