Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Journalism, Communications, or related field is required.



Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

2 to 5 years of relevant marketing, fundraising, development, or event coordination experience is required.

Preferred experience in healthcare, medical, fundraising, or educational settings.
Fundraising and event coordination experience strongly preferred.



Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Development Director and Marketing Director, the External Relations Coordinator is responsible for developing and utilizing in-depth knowledge of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences' (DOVS) patient, research and teaching mission to communicate effectively with target audiences (faculty, staff, alumni, donors and grateful patients) and tell the DOVS story in compelling ways to increase brand engagement, donations and referrals.



Additional Information:


1. Must have outstanding written communication, oral communication and organizational skills.
2. Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines.
3. Ability to work as a member of an effective Development Team.
4 Proficiency required in Microsoft Office, social media, Adobe Acrobat or InDesign, MailChimp (or similar email management platforms).
5. Very professional with high ethical standards for handling confidential information.
