This position plays a critical role in the University level strategic plan objective on undergraduate student success. With approximately ¼ to 1/3 of the undergraduate student body being comprised of First Generation students, this position is critical in providing outreach and services to First Generation students. During the fall 2016 semester, UK enrolled over 3,300 first generation students. 900 out of the 3,300 were first time freshmen. This position will be the only one of its kind at the university level with complete oversight of first generation students. This position will work with Colleges, financial aid, Presentation U, residence life and many other services and resources in developing campus-wide programming and persistence techniques in advising. Services provided by this position are critical to aid in the retention and degree completion for First Generation students.
