The Facilities Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Grounds Maintenance Worker II to join our team. **THIS POSITION HAS A START DATE OF 09/01/2017, OR LATER ** Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: * Works with crew to ensure campus areas are weeded, trimmed, and mulched. * Participates in the construction and care of new landscape beds * Installs mulch correctly to approved depth. * Trims and prunes a variety of trees and picks up trash and debris from assigned work area. * Performs tasks associated with all aspects of greenhouse maintenance and care of flora. * Determines the need for and effects the repair on a large variety of equipment and machines and in grounds maintenance. * Participates on inclement weather team for ice and snow removal. The successful candidate will possess one year related grounds maintenance experience. The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required:* Ability to follow oral and written instructions* Ability to keep records and complete forms accurately* Ability to apply mathematical concepts to complete tasks (example: measuring and mixing chemicals)* Working knowledge of the practices, tools, materials, and machines used in grounds maintenance operations* Ability to monitor tasks of others and ensure completion of work* Physical ability to perform work involving standing, stooping, operating equipment, and lifting of materials and equipment* Valid driver's license and ability to drive a vehicle, and maintain coverage under University auto insurance policy, if required to drive University vehicles.* Ability to work outdoors in all kinds of weather.* Knowledge of appropriate safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed
