The Grounds group within the Facilities Maintenance Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Grounds Maintenance Worker I- Groundskeeper I to join out team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: * Perform variety of grounds-keeping duties alone or with a team. * Mowing, trimming, edging, blowing, planting using typical lawn care equipment, pulling weeds, and raking. * Picking up trash, collecting trash and recycling. * Snow and ice cleanup including shoveling and applying ice melt products. * All other duties as assigned.The University of North Texas System is firmly committed to equal opportunity and does not permit - and takes actions to prevent - discrimination, harassment (including sexual violence), and retaliation on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, family status, genetic information, citizenship or veteran status in its application and admission processes, educational programs and activities, facilities, and employment practices. The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required:* Ability to follow oral and written instructions.* Ability to keep records and complete forms accurately.* Ability to apply mathematical concepts to complete tasks (example: measuring and mixing chemicals).* Some knowledge of the practices, tools, materials, and machines used in grounds maintenance operations.* Physical ability to perform work involving standing, stooping, operating equipment, and lifting of materials and equipment.* Valid driver's license and ability to drive a vehicle, and maintain coverage under University auto insurance policy, if required to drive University vehicles.* Ability to work outdoors in all kinds of weather.* Knowledge of appropriate safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.
