The Mail Services Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire an Administrative Specialist I-Mail Clerk to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:* Collects outgoing U.S. Mail and campus mail from University offices and carries it to the Mail Room. * Counts, records, and sorts Interdepartmental and USPS box mail to designated slots in sorting bins.* Answers calls and assists or transfers calls as needed. * Delivers interdepartmental mail and the department's USPS box mail to all designated stops within a given time frame, twice daily.* Sorts, checks, and verifies departments accountable notification red cards against manifest sheet to deliver and receive department personnel signature.* Picks up interdepartmental and USPS outgoing mail (letters, flats, etc.) twice daily.* Assists in standard mail area in picking up standard mailings, sorting, tagging, bagging, and preparing forms for dispatch.* Drives vehicle on campus route when necessary.* Keeps mileage records.* Observes safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.The University of North Texas System is firmly committed to equal opportunity and does not permit - and takes actions to prevent - discrimination, harassment (including sexual violence), and retaliation on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, family status, genetic information, citizenship or veteran status in its application and admission processes, educational programs and activities, facilities, and employment practices. The successful candidate will possess a High School diploma or GED equivalent and one year of general office or clerical experience. Substitution of education for experience allowed. The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required:* Skill in evaluating facts or situation to route calls/customers appropriately.* Skill in telephone etiquette and courteous communications with public.* Skill in basic office procedures.* Skill in the use of personal computer/software.* Skill in the operation of a variety of office machines including, personal computers, telephones and copiers.* Skill in basic filing and recordkeeping.
