Director of Institutional Research
Located in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains in Greeneville, Tennessee, Tusculum College, Tennessee’s oldest College, seeks an experienced institutional research professional to serve as Director of Institutional Research in the Office of Institutional Effectiveness. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Institutional Planning and Effectiveness, the Director is responsible for coordinating external reporting for the College, and College-wide student assessment using external instruments. The Director works with a wide range of offices to provide regular and ad hoc data and analysis, and serves as a resource to College on the Colleague data system. The Director must have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, work well with various constituencies, and work independently.
The Director of Institutional Research enhances institutional effectiveness by meeting the data and analysis needs of executives, departmental administrators, and faculty. The Director is responsible for providing data for external reporting of the College to agencies, including IPEDS, NCAA, SACSCOC, TICUA, Petersons, College Board, Military Friendly, etc. The Director coordinates all external instruments for student assessment including, the Proficiency Profile, ACAT, NSSE, CIRP, and Noel-Levitz student satisfaction surveys; provides technical assistance in support of departmental test development, survey development, data standards, and other data needs and analysis; provides data for preparation of Fact Book, annual foundation applications, regular teaching load reports, and other ad hoc requests; and develops databases suitable for longitudinal studies and statistical analysis, such as with student retention.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Master’s Degree is required preferably in research-intensive social science, math, statistics or information systems; institutional research experience required along with demonstrated ability to extract data from student information systems. Applicants must possess excellent computer skills and proficiency with MS Office, databases, and SPSS. Experience with Datatel, Colleague or similar systems and SQL highly preferred. Successful applicant must possess effective oral and written communication skills, the ability to work independently and with a wide-range of College offices and personnel, and work on multiple projects at a time.
