The Master Cutter/Draper/Tailor is responsible for overseeing the cut and construction of all theater and opera costumes for Temple University's Center for the Performing and Cinematic Arts (CPCA). This is a 10 month position from August through May. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education/Experience:

B.A. or B.F.A. in Theater with at least three (3) years of professional experience in a costume shop environment. Costume cutting, draping, flat pattern drafting, tailoring and construction experience at a professional level. Experience with industrial sewing machines, shears, industrial steam irons, dye and laundry facilities (no dry cleaning machines).

Required Skills & Abilities:

* Ability to motivate and supervise undergraduate and graduate students.

* Strong oral and written communication skills, along with the ability to interact with a diverse group of faculty, staff and students.

* Demonstrated interpersonal skills.

* Ability to multi-task various job duties efficiently with time sensitive timelines.

* Should be highly organized and motivated.

* Demonstrated skills in millinery, painting and dyeing techniques, constructing costume accessories and/or wig/hair styling is desired.

* Knowledge of historical patterns, fabrics, and decoration techniques.

* Ability to work evenings and weekends on a regular basis.

Preferred:

* Master's degree.
