Responsible for the recruitment and selection of undergraduate freshmen and transfer of matriculate students, representing the Tyler School of Art, the Division of Architecture & Environmental Design and Temple University in a professional, knowledgeable, and responsive manner. Recruitment duties include portfolio reviews, determining recruitment territories and aggressively managing a recruitment territory, including travel to high schools, college fairs, community colleges and portfolio days to do presentations about the Tyler and Division of Architecture and Environmental Design programs and to meet with students, teachers, parents, and guidance counselors.
Other duties include planning and participating in on-campus events; communicating with prospective students in person, by phone, through social media, in writing, and in group presentations; leading special interest groups and high profile guests through Tyler and the enrollment process; evaluating admission applications and responding to appeals from students, parents, guidance counselors; reviewing undergraduate portfolios; serving as the Tyler and Division Admissions liaison to Temple University when appropriate. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree and 1 year of experience in an academic setting in higher education or related field preferred. Advanced training and/ or coursework towards advanced degree is preferred.
Undergraduate or graduate degree in Art, Architecture, Fine Arts, Arts Administration, Art Education, Art History, or related area required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills & Abilities:
* Must be able to assess, critique, and evaluate portfolios of work in areas relative to Tyler and Division for freshmen, transfer and graduate students.
* Must have excellent communication and interpersonal relations skills; ability to work some nights and many weekends (approximately 15 weekend dates)
* Ability to travel to off campus locations that may not be accessible by public transit
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint.
