This person is the primary on-campus resource for students seeking General Advising appointments, either scheduled in advance or on a walk-in basis. They collaborate with the Registrar's Office and the Transfer Advisor to ensure that forward-facing curricular materials are kept current. Additionally, they assist with the programs for new students hosted by OneStop.The preferred candidate will have experience at a liberal arts college as a student and/or staff member. Experience working in college student services is a plus. The preferred candidate will demonstrate knowledge of UNC Asheville's curriculum and student academic policies. Ideally, candidates will demonstrate experience in working with a broad range of students, staff, faculty, and community members. Significant experience using word processing and spreadsheets for tasks such as advertisements, mail merging, and data collection/reporting is preferred. Experience and expertise with Banner Student information systems is a plus, as is familiarity with video editing software and with Moodle. An understanding of the academic challenges faced by college students from a variety of backgrounds is a plus. The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff.
