Duties: Reporting to the Executive Director of Major Gifts, manage portfolio of major gift prospects and donors in the Western region of the United States. Cultivate and solicit alumni and parent prospects, with emphasis on gifts of $100,000 or more. Manage a prospect pipeline of 200 names. Provide individualized and strategic stewardship contact for existing major gift donors. Design and implement cultivation/stewardship special events for individuals and groups. Identify and rate new prospects. Write gift proposals and other, materials as needed. Represent the University at regional and on-campus events Identify, recruit, train and support volunteers. Cultivate local volunteers for future leadership roles on University boards of trustees and overseers and other alumni leadership activities. Work strategically with volunteers to encourage them to build bridges and utilize their networks to help Penn develop stronger relationships with other prominent alumni, parents, and friends of the University. Engage volunteers in prospect identification and evaluation process. Oversee select prospect assignments to volunteers, including the provision of pre- and post-contact support and, as appropriate, accompanying volunteers on cultivation/solicitation visits. Keep volunteers informed about the University and its fundraising priorities. Work closely with the Executive Director on individual prospects, special events and development of overall strategic plan for region. Assist on-campus fund- raising staff, including colleagues in central development office as well as School/Center development officers and Alumni Relations staff. Staff fund-raising visits by University leaders, e.g. President, Deans or faculty members, and by senior administrators, including senior development officers. Work closely with other Major Gift Officers and on-campus Alumni Relations colleagues in the development of on- campus events and programs that will lead to increased high-level involvement of local alumni and parents. Support university fund-raising staff.

Qualifications: BA/BS degree and 3-5 years of successful fund-raising experience required, preferably in higher education, including direct solicitation of six figure gifts from individuals. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Have an innate willingness to dig in and contribute in a team orientated environment. Pride yourself on the quality of work and have a strong attention to details. Familiarity with the University of Pennsylvania and/or solid understanding of a major research university environment. Must be willing to travel often and work occasional evenings and weekends. Valid driver's license required.
