Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree required. Degree field of computer science, statistics, mathematics, public health, or health policy (or related areas) is preferred.



Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Expert-level database and / or statistical programming skills (including writing syntax).
Working knowledge of SQL (or other database querying language).
SAS is the main language in the unit, but applicants with knowledge of Stata, R, SPSS and / or Python who are willing to learn are welcome. Applicants not yet familiar with SAS will be expected to learn SAS and SAS macros upon hire.
Prior experience constructing analytic files from large databases and merging databases from multiple sources.
Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
Knowledge of the Medicare or Medicaid databases (e.g., CCW, SEER) is desirable.



Position Summary:

This position will be a lead database programmer for the Wisconsin Surgical Outcomes Research (WiSOR) program. The position will provide research methodology and database programming expertise to support studies to merge administrative outcomes research data from separate sources, including outcomes research data from the Federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
