Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

USC Connect is a comprehensive learning initiative to support all students in enhancing their Carolina education by connecting academics and beyond the classroom experiences. USC Connect administers Graduation with Leadership Distinction (GLD) which recognizes students for their achievement in integrating learning within and beyond the classroom to lead. The USC Connect Advisor will (1) advise students on Graduation with Leadership Distinction and support their development of integrative learning (e.g., developing presentations and e-portfolios reflecting within and beyond the classroom learning) (2) support USC Connect initiatives including working with faculty and staff throughout the university to coordinate and provide programs and services to students related to integrative and experiential learning (3) support the maintenance and development of record-keeping, services, materials, and marketing to students. The USC Connect Advisor will work under the supervision of the Assistant Director and in collaboration with other USC Connect staff and university partners.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Masters degree in Student Services or related field, or bachelor's degree and 2 years related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree in a related field (e.g., education, English) and two or more years' experience. Experience in higher education and/or work with undergraduate students, particularly in relation to reflection and writing. Experience in interacting with higher education professionals and/or faculty.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Strong organizational and administrative abilities. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to interact with students, faculty, and staff from all areas of the University. Flexibility and willingness to work as part of a diverse team. The ability to contribute to a productive, professional environment. A comfort with the development, brainstorming and creation of new practices and procedures. Willingness to perform other projects and tasks as assigned. Knowledge of computers and software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and comfort in learning new systems (e.g. customized databases). Initiative and resourcefulness with the ability to work without direct supervision. Evening work hours may be required for participation in staff events.
