Position Information: Under the general direction of the Executive Director of Student Health, Counseling, and Case Management, the Student Health Services Director is responsible for the planning, organizing, and direction of Student Health which includes conceptualization, development, and management of Student Health's services and programs. The Director is responsible for ensuring Student Health Services delivery of high quality, efficient, cost-effective, and coordinated services that are responsive to and appropriate for the needs of UCR students, the Student Health staff, the UCR community, and other constituencies, in concert with the missions of Student Health Services and the University of California.

Minimum Requirements: Must have skills and abilities to manage a large unit or multiple units, and to lead management and senior professional staff.
Position must have thorough knowledge of the fiscal/budget processes of the campus.
Must be computer literate.
Position must be able to effectively manage HR and fiscal resources.
Requires knowledge of campus goals and objectives related to providing highly effective health care services and programs to faculty, students and staff members.
Position must be able to work in a collaborative manner with contacts of significance, both internally and externally.
Requires high level communication, diplomacy and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of Physician and management duties at this level.
Must be able to establish goals and objectives for the Medical and Health Promotion organizations.
Requires knowledge of electronic/medical records systems.
Thorough knowledge of clinical operations. Thorough knowledge associated with managing multiple medical care units and establishing operational efficiencies. Advanced knowledge of health care administration and systems.
Highly experienced and skilled at planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating activities appropriate to the advancement of organizational goals.
Skilled at managing workforce diversity issues.
Advanced knowledge of business process re-engineering, organizational planning, and communications.
Ability to analyze short- and long-term fiscal needs and address them through systematic analysis and implementation of revenue-generating options including fees, grants, and other methods. Knowledge of budget planning, preparation, and administration. Ability to make realistic, equitable fiscal decisions, to present and defend budget concerns persuasively, and to prepare compelling budget reports.
Demonstrated ability to create staff development plans and motivate members of staff.
Ability to identify and evaluate problems and to establish measurable, challenging, and attainable goals for the organization and individual staff members.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate with students, faculty, and staff at all levels in the organization; business partners; and the medical community. Demonstrated high level skills in providing and managing the delivery of medical care services to a diverse client population.

Preferred Qualifications: For positions associated with Sports Medicine, must maintain current knowledge of applicable rules and standards of the Pacific-10 Conference, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), as well as other associations and agencies to which the Berkeley campus of the University of California adheres, and, at all times avoid any and all violations of these rules and standards.

Position requires a sound foundation of knowledge of HR-related policies and programs of the campus.
