This position is 100% FTE September through June with Seasonal Layoff during the month of July. Possibly 80% FTE instead of 100% FTE during the month of August. Note: Not all unique aspects of the job are covered by this job description JOB PURPOSE:
Provide a full range of pharmaceutical services including, but not limited to: drug procurement, storage and security; safe, accurate, and timely preparation and distribution of drugs; and consultation and drug information services for patients and health care clinicians. CORE DUTIES*: Procure, prepare, and dispense drugs, medicines, and other therapeutic agents.Review written prescriptions for safety, efficacy, appropriateness, and accuracy; maintain patient drug profiles to avoid adverse reactions.Advise patients and health care practitioners on the selection, dosages, interactions, and side effects of medications; disseminate drug information and provide educational programs to health service staff.Determine the most efficient and cost effective medications and alternatives, review inventory, place orders, and verify receipt of medications.Provide information regarding student insurance and collect payments.Assist with the administrative duties of operating a retail pharmacy, including pricing, compiling statistics, updating and researching new medications for the formulary, and writing administrative policies and procedures. * - Other duties may also be assigned MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience: BS degree or PharmD from an accredited School of Pharmacy. Two to three years of clinical experience in hospital or ambulatory care setting. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to work well with patients, pharmacists, physicians, and other health care practitioners.Ability to troubleshoot problems efficiently and effectively.Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.Ability to work well with Stanford colleagues and clients and with external organizations.Commitment to personal responsibility and value for safety; communicate safety concerns; use and promote safe behavior based on training and lessons learned. Certifications and Licenses: Current California Pharmacist License in good standing. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Immunization Certified and Travel Certification preferred PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*: Frequently stand/walk, use a computer, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.Occasionally kneel/crawl, grasp forcefully, use a telephone, sort/file paperwork or parts.Rarely scrub/sweep/mop/chop/mix, operate foot and/or hand controls. * - Consistent with its obligations under the law, the University will provide reasonable accommodation to any employee with a disability who requires accommodation to perform the essential functions of his or her job.
