Research Analyst, Stanford Latino Entrepreneurship Initiative
This is a one-year fixed term position.

We are looking for a Research Analyst to survey Latino business owners and analyze statistical data to better understand Latino business owners nationwide.
The successful candidate should be skilled in data analysis and statistical computing. He/she will be able to analyze both qualitative and quantitative data, including data mining and database management, merge collected data with large data sets (i.e. Census, ASE, SBO), and interpret the results through presentations and reports for academic, business, and government audiences. The Analyst will also be involved in the collection of data on consumers, competitors and the market place, including the design and implementation of surveys and the maintenance of associated databases. He/she will remain fully informed on market trends, other current research, and implement best practices.
CORE DUTIES*: Assist principal investigators with designing surveys constituting a phase of a research project for which precedents are few; conduct research which may involve coordinating a complex protocol.Independently identify/modify standard procedures based on judgment concerning the general goals of a project; select approaches in developing, testing, and evaluating new methods.Lead or participate in multidisciplinary teams (in academia, across different faculties or schools, and in industry, across different functions of the business).Co-author all or sections of a report for publication or professional presentation with the work being reviewed by the principal investigator or faculty.Present ongoing work and findings to colleagues at academic conferences.Collaborate with the principal investigator to design a research approach of a project and/or integrate results of the entire project.Complete project-related administrative and budgetary responsibilities of a limited scope as needed.Train student interns, including instruction on techniques and consultation on project work.

Education & Experience:
Graduate degree in an applicable social science related field and five years of applicable experience, or combination of education and relevant experience in an applicable social science. PhD preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Expert level knowledge and skills in field of science related to research project.Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; excellent judgment.Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance.Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to complete detailed work accurately.Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.Ability to work with human study participants.
Substantial experience and understanding of at least one statistical computing environment, such as R or STATA.Familiarity with SQL databases, survey tools (Qualtrics), and a programming language.Search engines, web analytics and business research tools acumen. Adequate knowledge of data collection methods (polls, focus groups, surveys, etc.).Working knowledge of data warehousing, modeling and mining.Experience working with diverse populations Command of written and spoken Spanish
Certifications and Licenses:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*: Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds. Occasionally stand/walk, sit, use a telephone, writing by hand, and sort/file paperwork or parts. Rarely twist/bend/stoop/squat, kneel/crawl, rarely reach/work above shoulders, operate foot and/or hand controls.
