Lake Forest College, Department of Psychology, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin August, 2018. We seek a person whose pedagogical and scholarly focus is on diversity science, broadly defined. A highly selective liberal arts college located on Chicago’s North Shore, Lake Forest College enrolls approximately 1,600 students from over 40 states and more than 70 countries. We are a diverse campus where more than 30% of our students are domestic minority students and 8-10% are international students.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in psychology, demonstrated excellence in teaching, and evidence of scholarly productivity commensurate with experience. Applicants should expect to teach three undergraduate courses per semester, including the Research Methods & Statistics sequence, courses that support our core curriculum, and courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. Classes are small (typically 15-30 students). Candidates will be expected to develop an active research program leading to publication with undergraduates in peer-reviewed journals. Preference will be given to applicants whose interests and areas of expertise will enable the department to expand the breadth of courses and research opportunities available to students.

At Lake Forest College, the quality of a faculty member’s teaching is the most important criterion for evaluation. The College also expects peer-reviewed publications and active participation in the College community. To further support these endeavors, in August 2018, the psychology department will move to the new Lillard Science Center, a 130,000-square-foot state-of-the-art research and teaching facility that will also house the biology, neuroscience, environmental studies, chemistry, and physics programs.
