Part Time Faculty, Dept of Special Education
Department Summary: Bridgewater State University is the largest of nine state universities in Massachusetts with more than 11,000 students. It was founded in 1840 by Horace Mann and is the nation's oldest stationary teacher-preparation institution. Bridgewater State University is a regional comprehensive university located in Southeastern Massachusetts.The Special Education Department at Bridgewater State University has been ranked in the top ten in the nation by Teacher.org. The department offers both Graduate and Undergraduate programs in Moderate Special Needs and Severe Special Needs Teacher Licensure.
Essential Duties: Duties may include teaching undergraduate an/or graduate courses; conducting regular meetings with undergraduate and/or graduate students; familiarization with current practices in Special Education and Special Education Law. Applicants should possess: - Ability to effectively teach in a close, collegial environment dedicated to the teaching-learning relationship. - Strong commit to excellence in teaching and to working in a multicultural environment that fosters diversity. - Ability to use technology effectively in teaching and learning. - Provide quality teaching including related preparation and grading. - Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes and to the department office as requested. - Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.
Required Qualifications: Doctorate or ABD in Special Education with a projected date of completion. A minimum 3 years of classroom teaching Focus or experience in any of the following areas: language /communication disorders, reading and literacy,early childhood special needs,curriculum development, assessment, technology for special populations.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous higher education teaching experience.
