Summary of the Position

This position is responsible for warranty and non-warranty repairs of all 4,000 notebook computers distributed through Bentley University as part of the Mobile Computing Program. This person works directly with reseller and manufacturers such as Lenovo, HP and Dell to procure parts, schedule repairs, and insure minimal downtime to users. This person is the point of contact for Lenovo and other vendors that Bentley contracts with to resolve warranty failure situations. Additional responsibilities include software support, troubleshooting and resolving conflicts, and training and managing student employees in troubleshooting techniques for notebook computers.



Essential Functions

Perform warranty and non-warranty hardware repairs (including system boards, LCD and casings) of notebook computers for students, faculty and staff. Interface with vendors on product support, procuring parts, and develop ongoing processes for these services. Perform software troubleshooting on student owned notebooks Train student staff in support for notebook computers and assist with special projects Review and create documentation for the daily processes (helpdesk, troubleshooting, shipment tracking)


Minimum Qualifications(Education and Experience Requirements)

Associates Degree and CompTIA A+ certification strongly preferred. One to two years experience supporting hardware and software in a Windows computing environments is required. Experience in component level hardware repair of Lenovo, HP, Dell and Mac notebooks preferred. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills are critical to this position. Complete understanding of the Windows 7, 10 and MAC Operating Systems and Registry, MS Office 2013/2016/Office 365 in an enterprise network environment. Strong logic and reasoning skills as they pertain to troubleshooting system failures are key components to success in this position.






Physical Demands

The person lifts notebook computers frequently. The position may stand for several hours while training student workers and setting up notebook computers. The position also may sit for several consecutive hours while repairing equipment and helping students.

During peak demands this person must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and moving equipment on and off shelving and on and off delivery trucks.
