Position Summary: The School of Medicine of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks a well-qualified leader to serve as Chair for the Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery. The Department is one of the top Otolaryngology programs in the country and is ranked highly nationally for innovative care and multidisciplinary research. The Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery has generous state support and a successful record of federal funding for training and research. The selected individual will lead a diverse group of over 37 faculty members and will oversee all aspects of the Department, including clinical practice, educational activities, research programs, and fiscal management, and will be responsible for allocation of resources and developing and implementing policies within the Department. The Chair will provide leadership and direction for the clinical, educational, research and professional missions of the Department consistent with the strategic planning of the UNC School of Medicine and UNC Hospitals/UNC Health Care.

Education Requirements: Minimum qualifications include an M.D./D.O. degree with board certification in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery.

Qualification and Experience: Candidate must have a distinguished record of research accomplishment, a strong commitment to clinical excellence, education and diversity, and clear demonstration of the qualities needed to lead and manage a multifaceted academic department in the 21st century.
