Job Description: The STEM Collaborative for Research in Education (STEM CORE) at East Carolina University (ECU) is seeking a candidate for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position to begin in the fall semester of 2017. The postdoctoral scholar is responsible for independent and collaborative development, implementation, and analysis of research in the discipline of Science Education. Responsibilities include management of all aspects of NSF funded project designed to transform foundational undergraduate laboratory courses through an inclusive curriculum across the three disciplines, using a common laboratory structure, language and emphasis for instruction. Duties include: literature review, collection of pilot data, report writing, and supervising of undergraduate research students and graduate research students, overseeing data collection procedures, supervising experimental procedures, review of data for quality control, supervision of data entry/ data analysis, analysis of research hypothesis using descriptive and multivariate statistics, and the development of independent and collaborative presentations and publications. Scholars are expected to demonstrate compliance with established guidelines and regulatory standards for research including bio safety, responsible conduct of research and human subjects training. Approximately 30% of the postdoctoral scholar's time will be devoted to Data Collection and Data Management. Approximately 25% of the postdoctoral scholar's time will be devoted to supervising of undergraduate research students and graduate research students data involved in data entry/data analysis. Approximately 25% of the postdoctoral scholar's time will be devoted to Statistical Analysis. Approximately 20% of the postdoctoral scholar's time will be devoted to Dissemination Activities (publications and presentations).

Minimum Qualifications: English Proficiency. Excellent written and oral communication skills. PhD in a physical or life science field with an emphasis on science education or an education research field, such as evaluation and measurement, or curriculum & instruction. Extensive knowledge of social statistical methods for qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
