Stanford's Department Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation (“DAPER”) supports the nearly 900 student-athletes who compete on the 36 intercollegiate athletic teams sponsored by the university. It also supports the campus physical education, recreation and wellness initiatives. Stanford's intercollegiate athletics department is seen as the premier athletic program in the country, achieving the highest levels of success both in the classroom and on the field. Currently, the Athletics Department is seeking applicants for the position of Arrillaga Family Sports Center Manager.


This position is responsible for the overall facility management of the Arrillaga Family Sports Center and Taube Family Tennis Center as well as admin duty within the department.

Reporting to the Assistant Athletic Director, Facilities Services, the Assistant Director of Facilities is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations and facility maintenance of the Arrillaga Family Sports Center (AFSC) and Taube Family Tennis Center. The position will also be responsible for inventory, procurement and maintenance of equipment.

AFSC Building Manager
  • Oversee operations and maintenance of building
  • Be the point person for all facility needs in AFSC
  • Coordinate repairs and maintenance work
  • Regularly inspect facility
  • Inspect facility for maintenance, janitorial and fire safety issues
  • Manage AFSC budget
  • Work closely with Home of Champions Manager to ensure smooth operation of HOC.
  • Manage Lenel system for building security
  • Schedule conference room usage in building
    Department Administration
  • Oversee equipment procurement for DAPER as department DPA
  • Athletics ispace coordinator
  • Manage STARS program
  • Management of other facilities and projects, as time permits
  • * Other duties as assigned.
    Education and Experience
    • A combination of education, training and experience performing responsibilities similar to those listed above.
    • Candidate must have a minimum of six years related experience in facility management or a combination of Bachelor's degree and experience.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Ability to coordinate daily activities including work scheduling, quality assurance, program validation, monitoring of maintenance activities, and supervision of personnel.
    • Demonstrated experience working with subcontractors/vendors and demonstrated ability to monitor project activities and ensure compliance with internal/external regulations.
    • Demonstrated experience analyzing and interpreting policies.
    • Knowledge of environmental and safety rules, regulations, and policies. Ability to conduct job site inspections to ensure compliance.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with a wide range of individuals and staff at all levels.
    • Ability to exercise good judgement and decision making in dealing with the pressures and demands of the sporting environment.
    • Demonstrated proficiency with word-processor and spreadsheets.
    • Ability to lift 50 pounds.

    Certifications and Licenses
    • Valid California Non-commercial Class Driver's License

  • Requires 24-hour response availability seven days per week for emergency situations.
