Position Summary

Directs, manages, and oversees all financial, personnel, and operational activities of Forest Akers Golf Courses at Michigan State University in order to maximize guest satisfaction and increase revenues; oversees golf tournaments for the MSU Athletic department, local communities and businesses, junior golf associations, and University departments; creates and updates all operational policies and procedures for Forest Akers Golf Courses and monitors to ensure they are being followed per MSU/RHS/SHG regulations; prepares and implements the annual budget for Forest Akers Golf Courses in order to control expenses and enhance services; develops and implements short-term and long-term business plans for the golf courses; prepares financial and other reports as requested; interviews, hires, and supervises golf course management team; oversees all equipment purchases for the golf courses following MSU procedures; works closely with the SHG Retail Manger to oversee and merchandise purchases.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Golf Course Management, or other related field; three to five years of progressively more responsible or expansive work experience managing a golf course and knowledge of golf course operations and supervision; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Professional Golf Association member/apprentice or LPGA member/apprentice.

Work Hours

Variable hours based on business demands, including frequent evenings and weekends.
