This is a full-time, benefits eligible, temporary position anticipated to end on or before June 30, 2018, with the possibility for reappointment. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
Under the general direction of the Senior Associate Athletic Director of Business Administration, the Athletics Accounting Analyst is responsible for planning, organizing and evaluating departmental business office operations; serving as Athletic Department resource for business and accounting policies which reconcile entrepreneurial aspects of an intercollegiate athletic program; analyzing budget reports, reviewing for accuracy and processing corrections; assisting Senior Associate Athletic Director of Business Administration in budget changes; reviewing and approving department requisitions up to $10,000 and purchase orders up to $5,000; reviewing and approving reimbursements, small dollar payments, and purchase order invoices. In Oracle, processing Athletic journal entries in the primary and secondary general ledgers.

Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $7,084 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,693 - $7,769 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.
Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
- Five years of accounting experience within an Athletic business office.
- Experience with higher education accounting/financial practices and reporting.
- Experience processing journal entries in primary and secondary general ledgers using Oracle.
- Experience with preparation of monthly financial reports.
- Knowledge and skills in understanding and implementing university’s budgeting and accounting practices and procedures.
- Ability to interpret university and Athletic Department’s financial policies and procedures and effectively explain to others.
