Program Assistant for Residential Education
The College of New Jersey’s department of Residential Education and Housing is seeking an energetic, administratively efficient, student-centered professional to become a program coordinator for Residential Education. The state title for this role is Program Assistant. This full time position will report to the Associate Director for Residential Education and will primarily be responsible for providing a wide variety of coordination aimed at supporting the wellness residential students and the success of student staff.
Student Staff Selection: Assist with the planning and implementation of student staff selection for undergraduate student staff throughout the calendar year.Manage the student staff database; coordinate candidate applications and staff files
Staff Training: create documents for training, oversee the administration of student staff online training program
Assessment and Evaluations:Assist with the implementation of all assessment initiatives; including but not limited to the Educational Benchmarking Institute survey, Learning Outcomes assessment, training, selection, and student staff evaluations
Special Events: Coordinate Residential Education & Housing special events; including End of the Year banquet, Alumni Networking Panel, and other events as assigned.
Administration: Track, assign and manage Care reports as outlined by departmental protocol and direction from the Associate Director. Provide data related to open Conduct and Care cases weekly to professional staff and collect data related to conduct and Care for annual statistics.
The preferred candidate will have an earned Bachelor’s degree, demonstrate the ability to assess student and staff needs and effectively handle difficult situations by providing high quality service, knowledge of student affairs, residential education, or how educational practices impact a college student's experience, Demonstrate a comfort with, and ability to learn, new technology as it relates to training, selection, assessment and education of staff.
This position is a non-competitive Civil Service position with the state title Program Assistant (A). The position is aligned to the Communication Workers of America (CWA) bargaining unit.
The starting salary for this position is Range P16, Step 1, $41,230.15. Salary for an internal candidate will be determined in accordance with Civil Service rules.

Under a new residency bill signed into law by Governor Chris Christie, any individual hired on, or after September 1, 2011, will be required to establish a principal residence in New Jersey unless their position is exempt. Any new employee who believes that they have a critical need to live outside of New Jersey, or that a move to a permanent residence within the state would constitute a hardship, may request an exemption from the provisions of the law by appealing to a five-member committee to be established by the State for the purpose of hearing such appeals.
