Position Summary	
Job Function:
The Assistant Track & Coach Intern reports to the Head Track and Field Coach and may have a second report relative to an assigned secondary duty. The primary tasks are to assist the Head Coach in all aspects of the program including: plan practices and game strategies; game day responsibilities; and recruiting qualified student-athletes in concert with the academic mission of the University. In addition, a secondary responsibility will be assigned that could include: game management, intramural and club sports, facilities management, or strength & conditioning. The maximum length of the intern position is three years.

Specific Responsibilities:
• Direct leadership and development of the men's and women's track & field jumpers.
• Coaching Sprint Jumpers
• Assist in meet management
• Identify and recruit qualified prospective student-athletes
• Assist with designing pre-season, in-season and off-season training schedules
• Maintain working knowledge of NCAA, Landmark Conference, and Susquehanna University policies and procedures
• Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Director of Athletics

Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of English language including meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar. Strong organizational, time management, oral, written, teaching, and computer skills. Detail oriented. Ability to set priorities, advocate team concepts, work collaboratively with faculty and staff.

Physical Demand:
Must have the energy and enthusiasm and mobility to actively coach field sports. Position requires the ability to move about the campus. Position requires the ability to talk and to hear instruction. Position requires manual dexterity and the ability to use fingers, hands, and arms to feel, handle and reach. Position requires frequent running and walking and occasional stooping, crouching and bending. Position requires the ability to occasional lifting and pushing. Working conditions are indoors and outdoors.

Required Qualifications	
Minimum Bachelor's Degree.
3-5 years of coaching or competitive collegiate experience in the events of sprints & hurdles required.
Desire to pursue coaching as a career is expected.
Evidence of positive attitude and the ability to get along well and collaborate with others required.
A valid driver's license is required.

Preferred Qualifications	
Coaching or competitive experience in the horizontal jumps is desired.

Special Instructions to the Applicant	
This position is allotted $12,000 annual salary plus benefits.

The typical length of the intern position is two years, with a maximum of three years.
