Smith College is accepting applications for a Web and Systems Developer.  Reporting to the Assistant Director of Admission, develop and maintain static and dynamic web pages and database-driven applications to support the recruiting and enrollment efforts of the admission office.  Develop contents, forms and applications in Drupal; research recruitment trends in higher education and monitor emerging technologies for opportunities to maximize constituent engagement and increase efficiency and value of Web and systems processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design, build, maintain and improve dynamic web-based, database-driven web pages, forms and applications for admission staff, prospective students, parents, secondary school counselors and alumnae admission volunteers to support, enhance, and automate on-campus events and admission functions. Design, maintain and improve admission web pages in Drupal to support on-campus events and programs. Transfer contents and forms from the old website to Drupal. Analyze, install and configure Drupal modules to meet the Admission needs.

Assist with the ongoing implementation of Slate (Admission CRM and online reading tool). Analyze configurations and applications; design and implement events, travels, communications, queries, forms and applications in Slate.  Serve as liaison to the college Drupal developers group for admission contents on the website. Meet regularly with the group to be able to develop applications that would assist Admission website visitors. Collaborate with admission marketing team and admission staff, College Relations, Information Technology Services, Student Financial Services, and other departments as needed in order to achieve project goals.

Create content and manage relationships with vendors and Web partners.  Systems programming of Nolij Transfer to facilitate duplicate record prevention and upload of electronic data to the college’s Banner/Oracle database system.

Provide training and technical support to admission staff to help them work with Admission applications and process data. Back up other staff needs as necessary.  Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field and a minimum of three years experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills: Demonstrated knowledge of project management techniques. Must be able to utilize various web programming languages/tools like PHP, SQL, SQR, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and be familiar with HTTP, SSL, and database queries. Experience with Drupal content management system and module configuration. Project management Experience with developing admission applications in Slate. Experience working with Linux, Apache, MySQL, and Microsoft Access. Ability to install, maintain and modify open-source web applications and utilize API’s.  Experience with graphic design and video production tools like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Fireworks and Final Cut Pro. Must understand and be able to implement web security measures, encryption and decryption, data input filtering and validation.  Must have strong customer service, communication and organizational skills.  Must be able to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.  Experience with Mac, Windows and mobile platforms.
