General Description

The THINK Ahead Program Coach provides instruction and mentoring to students enrolled in the Think Forward program and acts as a program liaison to the College offices that support those students. The incumbent is charged with planning and implementation of the Think Ahead program offerings as well as ensuring essential support services to students assuring equal access, inclusion, and compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations (American with Disabilities Act – ADA, Sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and related disability legislation).

Responsibilities

  • Teach all courses in the Think Ahead program
  • Coordinate with Think Ahead community partners regarding
    • admissions process
    • academic progress of program students
    • applied learning opportunities for students in related credit programs
  • Coordinate the development of on campus employment opportunities for students in cooperation with other college offices and faculty
  • Act as a liaison to appropriate college offices
  • Coordinate with all community, school, and state agencies that offer assistance to students with special needs

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred in Special Education, Vocational Training, or Social Work
  • Working knowledge of, and ability to read documentation for learning disabilities and students with special needs
  • Knowledge of all state and federal laws pertaining to serving people with special needs in postsecondary education
  • The ability to establish priorities, manage multiple demands and projects, and meet deadlines; strong customer service orientation; attention to details; and excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
