The Associate Director of Development, Annual Giving, Cancer Programs (AD), is responsible for maintaining and expanding our fundraising and individual giving program through personal solicitations, direct marketing, a sophisticated online giving platform, special events, and publications.
The AD oversees one of Charlottesville's premiere annual fundraising events, the Charlottesville Women's Four Miler. This individual is also the point person on most volunteer-driven, third party fundraising and awareness-raising events.
The ideal candidate will have some experience in customer/donor/client focused industry such as but not limited to development, sales, marketing, non-profits, higher education, volunteer management, or event planning. He/she must have the ability to manage multiple projects, excellent interpersonal communications skills, written and verbal, and have the ability to recruit, motivate and lead all levels of volunteers. He/she must be able to travel and work evening and weekend hours.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Understand the principles of philanthropy, higher education, and relationship management.
Ability to effectively articulate the University's educational mission, strategic aims, and fundraising programs.
Must have excellent interpersonal and communications skills (written and verbal).
Must have ability to work with a variety of people and strong orientation to teamwork.
Ability to maintain accurate records.
Must have ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
Must have ability to recruit, organize, lead and motivate all levels of volunteers.
Demonstrate ability to cultivate and maintain effective relations with prospects, donors and volunteers, as well as work as part of a fundraising team.
