BU's award-winning Marketing & Communications team is looking to add a savvy, ambitious public relations team member with robust media contacts, passion for integrated campaigns and strong interest in science. The Associate Director, Public Relations will develop and implement strategic public relations campaigns across traditional and digital media, targeting key outlets and influencers, to promote Boston University, its research excellence, prominent faculty, and position BU as a thought-leader in higher education. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of successfully working with the media, possesses excellent written and oral communication skills and can critically evaluate information, assessing news value.

Required Skills

B.A./B.S. or equivalent in communications, marketing, journalism or related field(s). Five to eight years of experience working with the media and successfully pitching and securing stories. Background in higher education, science communication, or agency setting. Able to work with principal stakeholders and clients. Experience working with professors, researchers and scientists is a plus. Able to describe science concepts to a consumer or lay audience. Experience in integrated traditional and social media public relations campaigns and with data to extract actionable insights.
