The Police Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a police support specialist to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:* Secure and document evidentiary and other property obtained by the UNT Police Department in accordance with state and federal law, as well as department and university policies. * Perform technical and administrative tasks in support of the Criminal Investigation Division (CID). * Oversees the maintenance of the UNT Police Department's vehicle fleet and associated equipment. * Receive and process evidentiary and other property by cataloging and labeling items.* Maintain an accurate inventory of all evidence and property.* Transport evidence/property to other agencies when necessary. * Research criminal case dispositions and identify property set for destruction, surplus, or conversion to the Police Department.* Prepare court affidavits and court orders for destruction of property. * Transport items to appropriate destruction location and ensure that destruction occurs.* Responsible for delivery and pickup of evidence at laboratories.* Give testimony in court regarding property/evidence.* Assist CID by making phone calls to property owners and victims, compiling data, and performing administrative tasks.* Release found property to rightful owners.* Coordinate the service, repair, and scheduled maintenance of the department's fleet, ensuring that all vehicles maintain a state of operational readiness.* Develop and maintain a fleet database for tracking specific vehicle information, regular/preventative maintenance, repairs, and equipment.* Collect information and process purchase requests for fleet related purchases, and oversee entire order/delivery process for items ordered.* Negotiate requests for equipment, supplies, and services from providers and vendors, ensuring the best quality, price, delivery, and service for the UNT Police Department fleet.The University of North Texas System is firmly committed to equal opportunity and does not permit - and takes actions to prevent - discrimination, harassment (including sexual violence), and retaliation on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, family status, genetic information, citizenship or veteran status in its application and admission processes, educational programs and activities, facilities, and employment practices. The successful candidate will possess a High School diploma or GED equivalent and three years of general office or clerical experience. Substitution of education for experience allowed.
