Essential functions of this position:
This position is responsible for the financial integrity and accountability for federal funds collections, reconciliation and requisition of federal draw down of funds, student accounts billing, rate table establishment, and oversight responsibility for the student collections of outstanding debt including state mandated interest assessment on delinquent accounts. This position is responsible for the integrity, funding and reporting for the Federal Department of Education Title IV programs encompassing over $50 million annually which includes Perkins Loan Funds, Pell, Direct Loans, Work Study and SEOG programs.
N.C. Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or Associate’s degree in accounting; or Associate’s degree in business or related discipline with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Additional knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential functions of the position:
Ability to Interpret and apply thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and apply to accounting operations
Possess strong analytical abilities, accounting skills and knowledge of accounting theory and practice, problem-solving skills, and reporting skills
Ability to compile and review moderately complex financial statements, accounts, and reports for accuracy and adherance to university, state, and federal regulations
Ability to develop and implement system and accounting process changes
Ability to assess and resolve problems that require research and review of policy, procedures and regulations; and issue resolutions based on level of authority
Ability to prepare written documentation which communicate accurate, informative, and concise messages and/or findings
Ability to recommend and make selection decisions and establish work plans and performance reviews
Possess effective decision making abilities and communication (written and oral) skills
Preferred education, professional skills and experience:
Experience working in an accounting or finance department at a higher education institution
Experience working in Student Accounts or Cashier Office at a higher education institution
Knowledge of financial aid programs
Banner Accounts Receivable experience
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Customer service experience in fast-paced
Recruitment Range: $61,232
NC Salary Grade Equivalency: 75
