Assists staff members with content for various media pieces and communication for the division of Student Affairs. Assist in updating web content for the division. Assists with copywriting; Proofread organizational correspondence, documents and other media for accuracy and formatting. Assists senior staff members locate new forms of communication leveraging various technologies that will increase the Division of Student Affairs ability to promote its wide range of programs to a diverse target audience. Collaborates with UCO's main public relations office (University Communications) to help coordinate media interest in Student Affairs products, programs, and services. Provide staffing support at departmental events. Assists in the implementation of public relations goals for the division by promoting its programs as well as a variety of campus and community events and initiatives. Assists senior staff members in the department to ensure projects are completed in a timely manner. Assists in establishing procedures and in the development of appropriate work flow for the department to meet the marketing/communication needs of the division of Student Affairs. Other duties as assigned. Requires some nights/weekends.
Department Specific Essential Job Functions
Assist in the marketing, communications, or sales for a department. Aid in coordinating promotional events. Update and assemble promotional packets. Provide support to senior personnel in developing marketing, communications, and/or sales plans.
Performs administrative or manual tasks. Requires general education or vocational training and 3+ years relevant experience in chosen field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, English or other related field. Experience working effectively with a variety of constituencies including students, faculty, staff, philanthropic, and government leaders. Experience working with various communications mediums including social media, video, presentations, print and digital communication, public speaking and online content management.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Working knowledge of AP style. Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills. Excellent computer and technology skills. Organizational and time management skills and an acute attention to detail. Ability to multi-task, addressing and pursing several projects simultaneously. A high degree of energy, creativity, initiative, and flexibility.
