The College of Mathematics and Science currently has 135 full-time and over 70 part-time faculty in 7 academic departments. The College serves more than 3,600 undergraduate students in 26 majors and provides graduate programs in Biology, Applied Mathematical Science, Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, Computational Science, Engineering Physics, and Nursing. Temporary Lecturer provides a quality learning experience for students. Performs instruction-related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies and procedures of the college. The relationship of the Lecturer faculty member to the student is one of teacher and facilitator of learning. Teaching and departmental responsibilities expected.
Department Specific Essential Job Functions
Teaching undergraduate nursing students in the classroom, lab, and clinical area. Occasional participation in Department meetings, committees and projects may be required.
An earned Master's degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval). Possesses excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Master's degree in Nursing is required. Doctorate is preferred in Nursing or related area. Current Oklahoma RN License, CPR, vaccination status and tuberculosis testing required. Drug sreen will be required before starting clinical duties. At least two years of clinical Nursing experience is required. Previous experience in teaching and evaluating students in the clinical area is preferred.
Supervising students in clinical and/or laboratory area. Instructors will be expected to evaluate students as well as direct and coach them in the care of clients and the development of nursing skills. Presentation of didactic material in a classroom setting independently or as a member of a team may also be required. Ability to work cooperatively with teaching team is required.
Repetitive movement of hands and fingers, typing and/or writing. Frequent standing, and/or sitting. Occasional walking, stooping, kneeling or crouching. Reach with hands and arms. Visually identify, observe and assess. Ability to communicate with supervisor/students/colleagues. Regular physical attendance required.
