Job description

Duties: The primary role of this position is to work as part of a team involved in the investigation of metabolism and post modification of the metabolites specific to inflammation and disease. Specific skills required for this position are: aseptic technique, bacterial culture, tissue culture with primary cells and cell lines, histology and immunohistochemistry, isolation and quantification of DNA and RNA for gene expression, protein isolation and quantification. In addition, small animals handling is required for oral gavage, injections, blood and/or sample collection, tissue harvests, and development of mouse breeding strategies. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to: preparing and planning experimental materials, assay development and troubleshooting, The successful candidate is expected to analyze data and work independently; encouraged to actively engage in lab meetings, project discussions, and seminars, to further their scientific education and development.

Qualifications: The minimum of a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Biology, Chemistry or Molecular Biology and 3 to 5 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Advanced degree is a plus. Must have strong organizational, excellent written and oral communication skills, and must be reliable; ability to coordinate several project concurrently is essential. Willingness to learn new techniques is an asset.
