Job Summary: The Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Georgia invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor with expertise in conducting research in the area of motivation in education to begin August 2018. The mission of the Applied Cognition and Development Program is to explore the effect of cognitive and developmental processes on education and determine how that knowledge can be applied to teaching and learning, to prepare graduates to improve education through research, and to apply research to various settings. We urge individuals to apply who have expertise in motivation theory as it applies to STEM K-12 education, particularly as it relates to the participation of underrepresented groups. The successful applicant will be expected to maintain a high-quality research program, seek external funding, serve as a research mentor for students, direct theses and dissertations, participate in faculty governance, and contribute to the collegial community of the Applied Cognition and Development Program and the larger Department of Educational Psychology. Minimum Qualifications: Qualifications include an earned doctorate at the time of employment with a specialization in educational psychology, developmental psychology, or a closely related field; a strong record of scholarly research; and evidence suggesting strong promise for securing external funding to support that research.
