Job Description: POSITION TITLE: FOOD SERVICE WORKER FPFDSV-WRKR01 STATUS: 9 months Part Time DEPARTMENT: Food Services DIVISION: Business & Auxiliary Services CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt UNION: Non-union REPORTS TO: Manager, Food Services PLACEMENT: Food Service MINIMUM PAY RATE: $12.00 per hour Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Responsible for proper food displays and pricing, rotating stock; opening and/or closing the outlet or cafeteria operation; daily food items preparations; recording all sales through the POS system while working within the department. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Serve customers with a friendly smile and a positive attitude. 2. Work various food stations/locations based on department needs of the day to include but not limited to food prep, grill and deli line, salad bar, specialty coffee drink maker, catering assistance, cafeteria cashier, outlet attendant, office help or dishwasher. 3. Maintain proper display and arrangement of all foods and materials; ensure that all items are properly priced. 4. Open and/or close food service outlets, unlock/lock coolers, and prepare equipment and restock paper products for daily use. 5. Maintain proper temperatures on food items, and proper stock rotation. 6. Record all cash transactions through the POS system and return correct change; safely secure cash and receipts. 7. Timely communicate product needs, equipment repairs and any customer service related issues. 8. Maintain sanitation and preventative maintenance of work area and equipment. 9. Participate in achieving departmental and college goals and objectives. 10. Perform related duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. High school diploma or GED equivalent 2. Will be required to take and pass an on-line Food Handler training course for non-restaurant employees. 3. Must pass physical examination. 4. Previous or related experience 5. Excellent hospitality skills. 6. Ability to follow specific verbal and/or written instructions. 7. Basic math skills 8. Ability to relate well with the public; comprehend and communicate business-related needs. PHYSICAL DEMANDS 1. The employee is required to stand for prolonged period of time. 2. Ability to move/push/pull stocked utility carts, lift, stack and maneuver objects with a minimum weight of 50 lbs WORKING CONDITIONS 1. Various kitchen equipment to include microwave, soup kettle, tilt skillet, oven, grill, stove, steam table, toaster, warmers, coffee machine, knives, meat slicer, cash register, etc. 2. Exposures: Changing Temperatures (60-110 degrees F), slippery floors, bacteria in foods, noise and vibrations. 3. Safety requirements: Adhere to company, property, and department safety standards and procedures. Safety shoes, proper guards, proper lifting techniques, sharpened knives and all safety procedures must be followed. Display knowledge of safe operation of hot foods services line and equipment while maintaining the level of safety required and exhibited by JJC and OSHA requirements. WORK SCHEDULE 1. 9 months position during regular fall and spring semesters - no summer. 2. Be available for various shifts that could occur between 6:00am -8:00 pm M-TH, Fridays (until 3:30 pm) during fall and spring semesters only and Saturdays as needed. 3. Work schedule will not exceed 28 hours per week. 4. Ninety (90) calendar day probationary period.
