Actuarial Science Position Announcement

The Mathematics Department at Illinois State University is seeking applications for a 9-month, tenure-track faculty position in Actuarial Science beginning August 16, 2018.

Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or an Actuarial-Science-related area is required however ABDs will also be considered. State law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position.

Responsibilities: The candidate selected will be expected to work with the Actuarial Program in the administration and service areas, teach courses related to actuarial science, pursue research and professional involvement in actuarial science, and otherwise contribute to the life of the department. Refereed research publications, quality teaching and professional service are required for tenure.

Rank and Salary:  Rank is at Assistant Professor. Salary will be commensurate with qualification and experience.

Department and Programs: The Mathematics Department offers Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in mathematics, and a Ph.D. degree in mathematics education. Within the Bachelor’s program there are sequences in mathematics, mathematics education, statistics, and actuarial science. The Master’s program offers specializations in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, biomathematics, and mathematics education. Consult our web site at www.math.ilstu.edu for more information.
