Essential Job Duties: The Plants for Human Health Institute Translational Nutrition faculty, Dr. Mario Ferruzzi, is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the lab as a Postdoctoral Research Scholar. The position is expected to conduct research in the group related to understating the impact of plant secondary metabolites on food quality and human health.
Department Required Skills: * PhD in Food Science, Nutrition Science, Chemistry/Biochemistry, or related field. * Experience in extraction and analysis of phytochemicals in foods and biological tissues. * Experience working with phytochemical ingredient systems including emulsions, encapsulants, plant based protein carriers. * Strong written and oral communication skills. * Ability to develop manuscripts, grant proposals and presentations.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: * Knowledge in food science and technology, analytical chemistry techniques as appropriate for characterization of plant derived phytochemicals in foods and biological matrices. * Working experience in liquid chromatography, in vitro digestion models and mammalian cell culture.
Necessary Licenses and Certifications: * Valid NC driver's license.
