Primary Function of Organization Unit: Campus Enterprises is NC State's lead division of retail and hospitality organizations ; NC State Dining, Wolfpack Outfitters (NC State Bookstores), University Trademark Licensing, the Lonnie Poole Golf Course, NC State Student Centers (Witherspoon and Talley), and the One Card Office. Each unit shares a common goal: deliver quality and efficient services worth dedicated financial support for student activity and scholarships. To satisfy the mission of a self-supporting, non-profit institutional bookstore as required by University administration and University trustees, by providing all required academic needs such as textbooks, reference, and trade books, essential student related computer equipment, supplies, emblematic items, and various convenience items as prescribed by state law. Additionally, it is required by the University trustees that the store pay for inventory and capital improvements out of receipts and that residual funds be directed to the General Scholarship Fund on an annual basis.
Essential Job Duties: The Assistant Concessions Manager will be responsible for the preparation, set up and visual appearance of our product during athletic events. This candidate must be able to supervise staff, manage inventory and perform opening and closing duties for Concessions events. The Assistant Concessions Manager is responsible for creating a compelling visual presentation that will maximize sales and profitability during all Wolfpack Outfitters events, assigned to the Concessions Department. Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to: - Maintain a neat, clean, and organized store that is welcoming to the customer - Provide outstanding customer service by listening to the customer and observing non-verbal cues to anticipate their service needs - Creating a compelling visual presentation that will maximize sales and profitability during all Wolfpack Outfitters events, assigned to the Concessions Department, by executing consistent signage and visual displays to maximize sales and visual appeal. - Supervise staff, manage inventory and perform opening and closing duties for Concessions events - Develop and maintain a consistent re-stocking system and assign regular re-stocking and merchandise presentation duties to the concessions staff. - Work closely with vendor representatives to gather their support and ideas to drive their merchandise sales in our store. - Utilize and understand sales and inventory reports and how to apply them to drive sales and accurate inventory levels. - Effectively and clearly communicate the store policies, procedures, and best practices to the store team. - Assist with preparing various reports to management.
Department Required Skills: The successful candidate will possess: - A high level of attention to detail, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, with minimal supervision. - Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. - The ability to train, delegate to and work effectively with student employees. - The ability to be professional and represent the Bookstore at all athletic events. - Effective time management skills. - The ability to support the Concessions Manager to meet or exceed annual sales goals. - Active listening skills in order to give feedback about products available for sale. - Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. - Initiative to help build and strengthen partnerships with campus partners. - Experience working within defined processes, such as those within Wolfpack Outfitters. - Some experience with retail inventory/POS systems.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: - Valid NC driver's license. - 2-3 years of soft lines merchandising or visual merchandising experience. - Retail inventory management experience. - 2-3 years experience in a management, training and/or leadership role.
