Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist

Primary Function of Organization Unit: The Department of Agricultural and Human Sciences educates students in agriculture and human sciences, finds solutions to problems, and extends knowledge to create healthy communities for youth and families. We do this through academic programs in agricultural and extension education and youth, family, and community sciences that are offered at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Essential Job Duties: This is a 12-month tenure track position in the Department of Agricultural and Human Sciences in the Agricultural & Extension Education Degree Program at North Carolina State University. This position is 80% academic and 20% extension. The Assistant Professor position will develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Agricultural Leadership, both on-campus and through online distance education. The position will contribute to efforts being made in the intersectionality of leadership and inclusion/social justice. The position will advise undergraduate and graduate students in departmental degree programs. The position will also work with county extension agents, state extension staff, and stakeholders on leadership programming. The position will collaborate with leadership programs at the college and university level, conducting research related to leadership. The position will also be changed with securing external funding for research and development activities. It will serve on Departmental, College, and University committees, as appropriate, as well as service to appropriate professional organizations. Minimum Education/Experience: * Doctorate in Agricultural and Extension Education, Agricultural Leadership, Leadership Studies, Leadership & Organizations, or a closely related field.
Department Required Skills: * Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: * A minimum of 3 years of successful professional experience and demonstration of an understanding of the land grant university mission.
Necessary Licenses and Certifications: * A valid drivers license is required for travel. NC drivers license required within 60 days of hire and must be maintained.
