Advertised Job Summary
A Research Assistant Professor is expected to function as an advanced post-doctoral fellow in that s/he builds their publication record and submits grant applications (national funding). The protected time for these activities and deliverables for this 2 year-appointment will increase the likelihood of the incumbent to be successful in their first term in the tenure-track (Assistant Professor). The Research Assistant Professor will work closely with an assigned Research Mentor (can be determined with input from the candidate and mentor[s] before the hire date. In addition, the incumbent will have the opportunities to find research collaborators within the larger University and build a research team. A key milestone to be achieved before transfer to the tenure-track is the submission as Principal Investigator of a federal grant (e.g., K-level, R03, R21) that has been scored in the fundable range or a Principal Investigator of a federally funded sub-award. The incumbent will be encouraged to guest lecture during the first year and shadow a faculty member teaching a course in the second year so as to prepare for the teaching roles that are integral to the tenure-track. This position is an on-site appointment.Required Education and Experience
Doctoral degree in Nursing is required. Candidates are expected to have a beginning research program. Applicants must be licensed or eligible for licensure in South Carolina as appropriate to their professional field.Preferred Qualifications
