Advertised Job Summary
The University of South Carolina's Moving Image Research Collections (MIRC) seeks qualified applicants for the position of Post-Production Technician, United States Marine Corps Film Repository. The Technician operates the Repository's Golden Eye IV 2K/4K motion picture film scanner, converting 16mm and 35mm film into high-definition digital video. MIRC will train the Technician to operate the film scanner. The Technician also performs post-production work on film scans once converted to digital video.
The United States Marine Corps Film Repository is a partnership between MIRC and the History Division of the USMC, providing high-resolution video of archival Marine Corps films to researchers at Quantico and to the public online.
Two full-time (37.5 hours/week) temporary positions are available. These are one-year positions, with the possibility of renewal contingent upon funding. Rate of pay is $15.00/hour. A successful background check and credit check are required.

- High school diploma
- Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team
- Demonstrable experience with computers in a networked environment, e.g., MS Office, email, relational database software, Google Apps
- Knowledge of digital video
- Experience with video editing software such as iMovie, Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro
- Experience with open source video tools like, FFMpeg and QCTools
- Experience with digital imaging technologies and/or software
- Experience using delicate and/or highly technical equipment
- Knowledge of Marine Corps history
- Knowledge of motion picture film use and/or handling
