JOB SUMMARY:


Assist Director as an Associate Director in the management and oversight of custodial and building support. Assist in the development of short and long-range strategies. Directs Zone Managers in daily operations. Provides overall management for sustainability and recycling programs. Manages training records and processes. Facilitates staff efficiency. Performs other duties as assigned.


JOB DUTIES:


30% - Essential - Program Management: Acts as back-up to the Director as an Associate Director. Assists in the development of short and long-range strategies for housing custodial program. Monitors the implementation of those strategies and communicates changes. Maintains updated knowledge on changing policies and communications with other staff members. Manages field training for staff, including the use of heavy equipment, floor care, blood borne pathogens, chemical dilution, SDS, safety compliance (OSHA standards), personal protective equipment, handling and hazardous waste disposal, hazard communication program, and hazardous energy control. Fosters an atmosphere in which staff may be more effective. Facilitate staff efficiency. Provides feedback to staff and supports staff development. Directs Zone Managers in daily operations.

30% - Essential - Inspecting and Inventory Management: Conducts inspections and creates daily reports. Completes weekly inventory inspection of furniture, looking for damages, vandalism, and missing item tags and labels. Completes weekly inspections of residence areas use of cleaning supplies, custodial equipment, and maintenance supplies and equipment. Provides recommendations for replacement. Maintains records of quantity, type and value of property, equipment, materials and supplies. Assists area supervisors in maintaining inventory, ordering supplies and quality control in each substation.

30% - Essential - Sustainability Management: Provide overall management for sustainability program processes including recycling, environmentally preferred purchasing, the Environmental Management System and Business Environmental Sustainability Techniques program, and conservation initiatives. Serve as a departmental representative for the CU Environmental and University Sustainability Committees. Develop, evaluate, and disseminate related reports, papers, and/or articles. Design, develop, implement, and coordinate departmental special projects related to sustainable environments and as assigned by the Custodial Director of Housing & Dining Facilities. Provide leadership to Clemson Housing initiatives within the Solid Green campaign. Partner with Residential Learning on educational efforts and acts as a primary resource for the Graduate Assistant for sustainability.

10% - Essential - Training and Reporting: Assists with selection of personnel, including summer labor. Completes planning stages and EPMS reviews. Establishes training needs. Sets schedules, keeps records, and prepares other reports.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


A high school diploma and custodial, groundskeeping or maintenance experience directly related to the area of employment.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:


Education - Associate's Degree with experience in computer operations or a related data processing field.
Licenses & Certifications - Drivers License Class D. Industrial Housekeeping and Recycling/Sustainbility certifications
Work Exp 3+ years of Industrial Housekeeping and Recycling/Sustainability experience.


WORK SCHEDULE:


Standard Hrs: 37.5; Band: 05 ($ 32,838.00 - $ 52,000.00)
