Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a twelve-month, tenure-track Chair of the Department of Mathematics and Professor of Mathematics faculty position in the Department of Mathematics.

Position Responsibilities:

The Chair must be able to provide strong leadership and promote a powerful vision for the advancement of the department's mission and goals. The department is seeking to increase its stature and reputation nationally and internationally while maintaining its culture of instructional excellence. The Chair will be responsible for working effectively with the departmental faculty in an open and participatory manner. In collaboration with the departmental faculty, the Chair will oversee recruitment efforts, assist in the development of curricula and new programs (including a graduate program), make recommendations to the Dean regarding all personnel matters including evaluation of faculty and staff, and administer all departmental budgets. This is a 12-month tenure-track position with the possibility of tenure upon appointment.

Required Education, qualifications, and experience:

The successful candidate must have an earned doctorate (or the foreign equivalent) in Mathematics or a closely related field and a distinguished record of teaching, research, funding and service that merits appointment as a full professor with tenure in the Department of Mathematics. Applicants with the training, ability, and/or experience equivalent to the minimum degree may be considered. The candidate should provide evidence of effective leadership experience, exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, and an ability to work productively with faculty and students from diverse backgrounds.

As one of the departments in the College of Science and Mathematics, Mathematics has 31 tenure-track faculty, 15 lecturers, and 2 staff. The Department of Mathematics offers BS programs and minors in Mathematics and Computational and Applied Mathematics.
