I. JOB OVERVIEW

Job Description Summary:

IT Sevice Manager for the School of Nursing will work to define and lead the schools evolving technology strategy, advance its support of research efforts, and manage and coordinate IT development in support of the school's strategic initiatives and service priorities. The incumbent will develop and establish operating policies and procedures as well as, design, implement and support systems, services and processes for GW SON. The position is based at GW's Virginia Science & Technology campus in Ashburn, VA and will require weekly travel to GW's Foggy Bottom campus in Washington, D.C.

Provides oversight of service level agreements and metrics related to service delivery. Works closely with GW's Division of Information Technology to coordinate resources and ensures ongoing investments in information technology align with the needs of GW SON's students, faculty, and staff.

Responsible for maintaing a close relationship with GW's Division of Information Technology so as to follow appropirate priorities and policies to minimize exposure to security risks. Aligns GW SON's practices accordingly.

Regularly interacts with other technical staff to review major issues and problems that arise and works toward providing long-term solutions.

Develops and implements policies and procedures for infrastructure design, hardware and software purchases, data management and support services. Manages purchasing and exercises budget control for hardware and software and is responsible for oversight of GW SON's IT inventory.

Serves as technical expert in the review and establishment of contracts relating to information technology solutions for GW SON.

Maintains regular contact with IT and Audio Visual (AV) vendors to assess new products, determines cost- effective solutions, and reviews technology lifecycle plans in order to address higher education's evolving technology requirements.

Conducts training and support operations to continously improve the use of technology within GW SON.

Serves as superuser for department databases. Provides direction and support for computer-based information and communication systems.

The incumbent may perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Experience providing in-person Windows and Mac support, as well as mobile device support ( iOS, Android and Windows based devices) is preferred.

Strong interpersonal, communication, customer service, and organizational skills.

Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and the demonstrated willingness to learn and share new ideas
