General Description of Position: This position involves working as a part of the Administrative Core of a newly funded COBRE center. The office specialist will work closely with the Program Director and Associate Director to ensure successful functioning of the center. Information about the Department: The COBRE center will be housed within the Department of Psychological Sciences. The COBRE center membership consists of the Program Director, Associate Director, office specialist, multiple project leads, core leads, an internal and external advisory committee, internal and external mentors, and partners at Wichita State University and the University of Kansas Medical Center. Applications are invited for a office specialist to work as a member of the Administrative Core for an NIH funded COBRE center grant. This position will supply broad administrative support for a newly funded NIH Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) in the Department of Psychological Sciences. The office specialist will manage the budgets for individual projects, research cores, and the administrative core, assist with ordering equipment and supplies for the cores and individual projects, assist with grant proposal preparation (e.g., budget preparations, equipment quotations), maintain records on center operation metrics using the COBRE center database, and assist the Program Director and Associate Director in preparing for the semi-annual evaluation meetings and mini-conferences. Required Minimum Qualifications: This position requires two years of relevant work experience. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or other relevant field
Two years of experience in accounting or administrative support work
Experience with time and leave entry, and payroll reconciliation
Familiarity with Peoplesoft HRIS system; Kronos Timekeeping System; Microsoft Word/Excel and/or other relevant systems
Familiarity with basic data base functions
Attentive to detail and committed to accuracy
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Ability to manage multiple priorities under occasional time pressure
Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and tactfully with a variety of people
