The Assistant Director will join a team of career development professionals that assist undergraduate and graduate students in making and pursuing career-related goals.  We provide services that help students explore, prepare, connect and share.  The successful candidate will be expected to assume primary responsibility for building a strong cooperative relationship with students and faculty. 

As an important member of a team of professionals, the Assistant Director will participate in career development-related work: career counseling, career assessment facilitation, planning and delivering of marketing and outreach activities, creation and facilitation of workshops and other educational programs, participation in and development of special events and conception and production of related publications, and liaison responsibilities to a School within the university.  One-one-one career counseling of students is the core responsibility of the role.

Bachelor’s degree is required with a master’s degree highly preferred.  Candidates with experience working one-on-one with students and a strong understanding of student development in higher education are encouraged to apply. Previous university career services or recruiting experience strongly preferred. 

The successful candidate will be a committed and ethical higher education professional who cares about collegiality and focusing on students.  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.  The incumbent will have a service orientation, a mentoring philosophy, and possess the ability to serve the broad scope of the University.  The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated collaborative disposition and creative approach to problem solving.

The incumbent must possess excellent customer service skills, ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities, perform highly detailed work, and be able to leverage technology tools, including social media.  Extended hours will be required on an as needed basis, including occasional evening, early morning and weekend assignments.
